How Suboxone Works?

Suboxone - Buprenorphine & Naloxone

Suboxone is an oral / sublingual drug that is a combination of buprenorphine & naloxone that is prescribed to help those addicted to Opiates (Pain Pills), Heroin, and sometimes Meth to reduce symptoms of addiction and withdrawal to these drugs. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication (partial opioid agonist). Naloxone, the other drug found in Suboxone, ultimately blocks the effects of opiate medications (being a pure opioid antagonist) that cause the neurological and physical affects that lead to the abuse of opioids. Buprenorphine helps to deliver lowered and diminished doses of opioids. All the while, Naloxone helps to block the brain receptors and even reverses the effects of using opioids. Naloxone by itself sometimes can carry risk and cause too many withdrawal symptoms which is why both Naloxone and Buprenorphine are combined in Suboxone to help those addicted to opioids. Suboxone should always be taken as directed by your doctor and follow all directions on the label of your prescription.
